Chimney sweep Kingston Upon Thames

Many of our loyal customers are with us from our early days and we are very proud to still be serving them, as well as new people, after such a long time. One of our most famous property we have worked in certainly is Hampton Court Palace. The former home of King Henry VIII, with so much history and amazing chimneys. On a job like that you do get to dream about the olden days, how people have heated those impressive, big rooms with the open fire.

The most memorable situation we have had was when a customer called us out to carry out a chimney sweep at their open fireplace because they have just moved into the property a few weeks ago. When going up the chimney flue with the brush the sweep noticed a blockage or object which he knew instantly doesn’t belong there. He managed to move the foot-long object with his rod and brush only to discover that he has just found a World War II bomb.

The explosive was disarmed by expert, but the area had to be evacuated and shut off for many hours.

Home-owner Louise, took neighbours to the pub to apologise for the inconvenience. She said afterwards jokingly “My neighbours said it was better to know now than for our houses to blow up in the future.”
